About Slam
Slam is a Scottish techno duo from Glasgow, consisting of the two DJs and producers Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle. Since 1991, Slam have run the Soma Quality Recordings label in Glasgow, which has also released productions by artists such as Percy X, Funk D'Void, Ewan Pearson and Silicone Soul. In 1993 Slam's track Positive Education was released, which can also be heard in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Other successful tracks from that year include Eterna and Stepback. Slam have also done remixes for artists such as Carl Cox, Underworld and Luke Slater.
In addition to their releases and remixes, the two have also been involved in many club nights throughout their career. For example, the duo's first club event was the Black Market party series at Furry Murry in Glasgow. In addition, they were involved with Joy at Sub Club in Glasgow as well as T in the Park. Today, the two are residents of the Pressure series, which takes place monthly at The Arches in Glasgow. They are also regulars at the Sub Club for Return to Mono.
