Spowiedź chuligana

Confessions of a Hooligan is a poetic tale of an artist's life, tinged with black humour. Andrzej Grabowski's one-man show is based on the poems of one of the great 20th century Russian poets – Sergei Yesenin. The colourful and tragic biography of the 'cursed poet', reflected in his work, is almost a ready-made theatre or film script.

It is not only Yesenin's love stories that have passed into literary legend (he was married five times, including to the famous dancer Isadora Duncan), but also his mysterious suicide. Yesenin's work, like his life, is a clash of opposites – lyricism and sarcasm, irony and childish naivete, sensitivity and cruelty. Idyllic landscapes, a sense of freedom and the beauty of the surrounding world coexist with dark images of losing oneself in drunkenness and disillusionment with life, heralding disaster.
