Stanisław Dróżdż (1939-2009) was a concrete poetry artist who created the notion of concept-shapes. He prepared the Polish Pavilion at the 2003 Venice Biannale and it is his work “Hourglass” that is displayed on the façade of Wrocław Contemporary Museum. He studied and lived in Wrocław. Towards the end of his life, he lived in close proximity to the shelter that nowadays temporarily houses MWW. As an artist, he rendered invaluable services to the culture of Wrocław. Wrocław Contemporary Museum has arranged a permanent exhibition of Stanisław Dróżdż’s works comprising its own collection, the collection of the Lower Silesian Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, and Anna Dróżdż’s deposit.
