One sunny Sunday in 2016, in a certain small town in Poland, a very strange wedding took place in a certain small church. This peculiar event brought together the living and the dead, mixing fiction with reality, and practicing politics with spinning fairy tales. Based on real events, Lebanese filmmakers Lina Majdalanie and Rabih Mroué look at the affects produced and processed by contemporary right-wing and nationalist narratives. Drawing on a true event, Sunny Sunday tells the story of the current situation in Poland, while touching on the context of contemporary changes on the political scene in Europe - and far beyond.
