Venue description

Ballet School in Poznań was founded in 1951 by Olga Sławska-Lipczyńska, who was an outstanding dancer and an excellent teacher as well. The school named after its founder provides both general and vocational education on three levels - primary, middle and secondary. Despite being one of five ballet schools in Poland, it attracts students from all over the country.

The school continues to strive for its founder's vision by providing excellent classical ballet training. In 1973 a renowned dancer and then an artistic director of the school Conrad Drzewiecki introduced modern dance into its curriculum. Poznań school was the first ballet school in Poland to offer modern dance training. Currently, students are also trained in multiple other techniques of dance including jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, character, and many more.

For more than 60 years, the ballet school has remained on the forefront of Polish dance education. Its students are awarded in numerous dance competitions. They have won countless grants and scholarships, including The Prime Minister and The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarships. The graduates of the school have gone on to dance for major classical ballet companies, as well as for numerous modern and contemporary companies, both in Poland and abroad.
