Williams' first drama, is the most autobiographical of the author's plays. It is an attempt to come to terms with his family. A house abandoned by the father. A desperate attempt by his mother and sister, Rose, the prototype of Laura Wingfield (a significant name), to save the family. It is primarily for her sister that Tennessee writes this drama. The desire to go to university to study journalism becomes stronger. Left at home with her mother, Rose falls into an increasingly strong mental illness. Eventually committed to a psychiatric clinic, she spends many years of her life there. The author cannot forgive himself for leaving his sister behind.

Reaching for this drama offers a glimpse into family situations in which adolescent young people with unusual sensitivities struggle with reality. They are looking for their place in it. They try to give their lives a form that suits them. The Glass Menagerie is part of Williams' triptych (The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) at the Baza Theatre.
