The Children of the Rain (Děti deště) are the musical equivalent of Vladimir Boudnik's quarrel with Bohumil Hrabal and Petr Bezruč: cruel natural brutality, humiliation, and academic discussion. The Children of the Rain are linking the best of high intellectual culture and hard-working tradition. They are a factory-crawling, sonic landscape painting that has a similarly established and steady tradition in our environment as Ringhoffer's races. It is an industrial cultural heritage, as well as the Vítkovice blast furnace. Dirty guitar riffs heated in ubiquitous distortions of sound, supplemented by whimpering syntax, and cries of existential passwords cut out from the cloth of Egon Bondy. Live, it is completely crushing. In the best sense.
