Hailing from the village of Żytno in the Sieradz region of Poland, musician and illustrator Bartosz Zaskórski, aka Mchy i Porosty, makes garbled, evocative electronic music; over more than a decade of work, he has carved out a very specific aesthetic niche, drawing on post-apocalyptic fiction, fantasy, body horror, the Polish countryside, as well as the idioms of noise, dungeon synth, electroacoustic music and hauntology. His audio work ranges from the purely auditory (such as the defining Hypnagogic Polish Music for Teenage Mutants and Wsie from 2017) to the danceable (such as his debut Bardzo ciepłe lato from 2015 and The Dead Pterodactyl from 2019). He has released music on Not Not Fun, Recognition, Brutaż and Transatlantyk; his debut comic book Postapoland was published by Hollow Press in 2021. His latest release is Loss & Los, a 2022 split with fellow Polish hauntology head Wiktor Stribog.
