The ensemble was founded in Prague in 1960 by composer and conductor Jaroslav Krček (1939) under the name Malá muzika (Little Music) of Josef Vycpálek’s song and dance Ensemble. The original line-up consisted of only two violins, a viola and a double bass (hence “malá muzika”). The soul of the music from the beginning was the folklorist, music arranger, instrumentalist, dancer and above all an excellent singer of folk songs Jiří Pospíšil.
