About Czech National Symphony Orchestra

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO) is a private symphony orchestra based in Prague.

The director of the orchestra is trumpeter Jan Hasenöhrl, who founded it in 1993 together with conductor Zdeněk Košler. The ČNSO regularly holds subscription concerts in Prague and tours abroad. Currently, the ČNSO has also started to organise the summer music festival Prague Proms, which attracts audiences every year with its programme and guest artists of international renown. Libor Pešek was appointed as the orchestra's chief conductor in early 2007, and Steven Mercurio has been appointed since 2019. Since the 2007/2008 season, the ČNSO has been giving concerts in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in Prague. In 2016, the ČNSO recorded the music of composer Ennio Morricone for Tarantino's film The Hateful Eight at Abbey Road Studios in London. Morricone's music subsequently won a Golden Globe and an Oscar in 2016.
