Tonbandgerät is a German pop band from Hamburg, that is under contract at Universal. The two sisters Isa and Sophia Poppensieker founded the band in 2007 together with Ole Specht. Since May 2010 Jakob Sudau is the drummer of the quartet. In 2009, they were included as talents in the support program of the VW Sound Foundation. In the same year they released their first EP called Tetris.
In recent years, they were the opening act for Auletta, Bakkushan, Fertig, Los !, Bosse and Mikroboy. In late 2011, they signed a record deal with the major label Universal. Tonbandgerät won the New Music Award in September 2012, a music prize awarded by young ARD radio programs. In September 2012 they released their first single, Irgendwie Anders, the debut album Heute ist für immer followed in April 2013 and climbed to Number 31 on the German album charts.
