About Uriah Heep
Formed in the UK in 1969, Uriah Heep are one of the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, alongside bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. With the now-classic albums Gypsy, Bird of Prey and Walking in Your Shadow, Uriah Heep launched their career both domestically and in the US with their seminal recordings: Demons and Wizards, The Magician's Birthday and Sweet Freedom. Their complex vocal harmonies earned them the nickname 'Beach Boys of Heavy Metal' and influenced bands such as Sweet and Queen; Uriah Heep were also pioneers of the use of the Hammond organ in heavy music. After more than five decades in the business, they are still touring, although guitarist Mick Box is the only constant member of the band; they have 24 studio albums to their name and more than 40 million records sold.
