Venue description

YAAM (Young African Art Market) is a multicultural, urban and low-threshold cultural location in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Since 1994, Yaam has been run by *Der Kult - Verein für Jugendkultur e.V. and sees itself as a place of intercultural encounter and integration by providing cultural, social, sports and leisure activities. The YAAM would like to offer a home to all means of expression of urban culture, and thus parties and concerts in the most diverse genres take place regularly in the Yaam Club. The program is complemented by urban sports, food and art markets, its own gallery, and in the summer there is a beach bar, the Yaam Beach on the banks of the Spree where you can enjoy delicious African food.

Musically, the YAAM stood from the beginning for a combination of Caribbean and African sounds with contemporary urban club music, and so bands like Seeed or Culcha Candela had their first performances there.
