Zukunft am Ostkreuz is an arts and culture center in Berlin's Friedrichshain district, south of Berlin-Ostkreuz train station on Laskerstraße. Haus Zukunft combines indie films, alternative culture, and home-brewed beer in a creatively remodeled GDR film warehouse with a large garden.
Haus Zukunft includes the Kino Zukunft, the open-air cinema Pompeji, the Theater Zukunft, the gallery Bildersaal Zukunft, the music clubs TIEF (formerly Tiefgrund) and Garage, the Waldgarten with a small open-air stage, and a pub with a beer garden. In addition, the center also has its own microbrewery, Brauerei Zukunft.
The wide-ranging program, which aims to reflect Berlin's cultural life in all areas, includes an event for every day of the week and attracts a diversified audience - from alternative to middle-class.
The open-air cinema opened back in 2011, and gradually more components of the cultural center were added.
