About Behemoth
Behemoth is undoubtedly the best-known metal band in Poland and one of the key line-ups of extreme metal in general. Formed in 1991, the band played black metal at first; in 1999 they released the album Satanica, which marred their entry into death metal territory. The only permanent member of Behemoth is vocalist and guitarist Nergal, largely known in Poland for widely publicised controversies in the vein of America's 1980s Satanic panic. They have twelve studio albums to their credit, the most recent being 2022's Opvs Contra Natvram; over the years they have been associated with outlets such as Metal Blade, Nuclear Blast and Pagan Records.
