About Szymon Klima

Szymon Klima is a Polish clarinetist and creator of original music projects. In his work, he combines his rich experience drawn from classical music with jazz, improvisation and folklore. This wide spectrum of musical inspirations can be heard on a number of original albums, which have been released so far. The classical roots of the musician can be heard in the project Lutosławski Retuned, which is a reinterpretation of compositions by Witold Lutosławski. The following years brought projects inspired by Polish folk music. In 2017 Klima, together with Dominik Wania (piano), Adam Kowalewski (double bass) Przemysław Jarosz (drums), recorded the album Free-Folk-Jazz. The album is a combination of the worlds of jazz, classical, traditional and contemporary improvised music. Free-Folk-Jazz was named the Polish jazz album of the year according to music critics Polish Jazz. Klima also released the album Folwark in the formation Szymon Klima Quintet in 2018, and 2020 saw the release of Fantastico, recorded in duo with the prominent Polish pianist Dominik Wania. Both positions were met with an excellent reception among critics and listeners.
