O Fanfán Tulipán

The band, whose genre is for its playfulness sometimes referred to as “Kinder Jazz”, was founded in 2009 by Eliska Svobodova, student composition at the Conservatory of J. Jezek. From this school came also other members: flutist Dusan Navařík (wrgha POWU Orchestra), pianist John Mazur (Emperor Penguin), bassist Vlado Micenko (wrgha POWU Orchestra) and drummer Cyril Lojda (wrgha POWU Orchestra Nedaba).

A typical feature of the band’s melodic Hammond and various musical experiments – eg. the use of Estonian zither. The author of the music that draws on the poetry of Jules Verne, or images from Kamil Lhoták is Eliska Svobodova. In April 2010 he won the Fanfare Tulip Award finalist Metropolitan University in the festival, young jazz tunes and in November won the Czech round of the International Jazz Competition Prix. German part of the Jury Prix at the Jazz festival group has taken “a dynamic mix of jazz with elements of Slavic tradition and stage show.” Due to the success in these competitions, the band could make his debut CD Polyorama.
