Spejbl and Hurvínek celebrated 80 years of professional activity (1930-2010). The bulk of production is devoted to children, but Wednesday nights traditionally belong to adults. The main characters of all theatre productions of the S+H theatre are Spejbl and Hurvínek – A father and son, who represents different views of two generations on the world. Their traditional opponent is a female couple, Hurvínek’s faithful friend Mánicka and her education-oriented “granny” Mrs. Katerina Hovorkova. These four principal protagonists are surrounded by Spejbl’s dog Žeryk and the other characters based on the requirements of the authors. Children’s repertoire includes both the humorous stories of the contemporary world, as well as modern fairy tales. For adults theatre offers satirical comedies. A typical feature of the S+H theater are marionettes – puppets on strings.
