O Contrast Trio
Contrast Trio is a band from Frankfurt am Main that plays jazz and electro.
The music of Contrast Trio is a mixture of jazz, electronic and music in a soundtrack style. Besides the classical instruments piano, bass and drums, the Contrast Trio uses Synthesizers, effect pedals, drum machines and samples. Hereby, the influences from electronic music, hip-hop and techno are unmistakeable. Furthermore, the pianist Yuriy Sych brings in folkloristic elements from his Ukrainian home.
As the trio is working for the theater Schauspiel Frankfurt on a regular base, soundscape-alike atmospheric passages which mainly consist of found sounds find their way into their music.
At the 46th Jazz Festival Frankfurt am Main in October 2015, Contrast Trio was among the highlights of the line-up. At the Hessian Jazzpodium 2016 at Darmstadt, the Hessian Jazz Prize was conferred to them, which makes them the youngest winners of the award in its history.
