Kunst in den Gerichtshöfen

Already in 1983 the first artists rented commercial premises at the Sechs Gerichtshöfe at Berlin-Wedding on favorable terms and rebuilt them to ateliers. Since then, the art quarter between Gerichtstraße and Wiesenstraße has continuously grown. It hosts a typical for Berlin mixture of artists’ ateliers, workshops, flats and workplaces. With about 70 artists with different origins and artistic orientations one of the biggest culture quarters in Germany has developed here.

With diverse events the association offers the possibility to get to know the occurrence of art during open atelier events, which have a long tradition at the Gerichtshöfe, to get in touch with the artists and to get creative in workshops to the public. The target group is hereby not only a culturally interested audience, but also people who might not find their way into a gallery in everyday life.

In a various program with events such as the Long Night of Gerichtshöfe, events for special occasions, art fairs, workshops for adults and children or the yearly Christmas Vernissage the artists offer an insight into the ateliers and workshops, show actual works, different techniques of working and search for personal contact with the visitors.
