Mudhoney: The Eternal Shadow Child of the Seattle Scene? A pioneer in flannel shirts and almost fatherly inspiration for later Nirvana superstars. And as usual, they also share the fate of a trend-setting band that has never made the leap from underground waters and has benefited only partially from its pioneering role, even in the hottest times. Whether Mudhoney ever wanted the glory is questionable. In addition, the veteran rock is far too deeply rooted in their punk rock lifestyle. While Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are at the top of the charts, Mudhoney has never bragged about sales.
In 2013, the joint 25th anniversary was celebrated with the release of a new album. The sound pie for the quarter-century Sause is Vanishing Point and once again the people in charge rely on their sense for solid, uncompromising grunge sounds.
