The Spandau Citadel is one of the most important and best preserved fortresses of the High Renaissance in Europe.
Built in the years 1559-1594 in place of a medieval castle fortress, the construction is located northeast of the old town of Spandau on the opposite Havelufer.
The citadel, with its four bastions and the imposing Julius tower, forms the impressive backdrop for one of the most beautiful small theaters in Berlin.
